UPDATE3: A month later, the company still refuses to respond. I filed a claim through BB and this is the response I received from BBB: "Regretfully we must inform you that our numerous correspondences made on your behalf to Newport Vessels have gone unanswered and we have closed your complaint as No Response.". If you buy anything from them, just know what you are signing up for. UPDATE 2: I filled a warranty claim and the company is not responding on any channel: live chat, email, or phone. First UPDATE: still one star, but I could go for 0. I went fishing for the first time. Freshwater. Motor started acting up after 2 hrs. It was full of water. The seal between the magnet housing and the brushes housing was faulty. Customer service couldn't find the part. That seal actually does not exist on the diagram! I found it randomly by googling it, because you can't find it by motor type on their website, as weird as it sounds. I ordered the part, paid $30 for 2 day shipping, it arrived in 3 days, I asked for the difference in shipping because it didn't arrive on time, and since then the company refuses to respond to me. Guys, trust me on this: don't do business with this company. You may be lucky, or you may regret it like me. Original review: Got this to replace a 40lb Minn Kota. I have another Newport 62lb that behaves well so far in saltwater. So I decided to get another one, 55lb, for use in fresh water. - Out of the box the reverse is making rattling noises like the wheel of fortune. Sounded like something loose, maybe a screw of the plate or a brush. Anyway, too risky to go out with it like this. Could have been armature rubbing on a wire and then you get smoke. - Sent a video to Customer Service, and the dialogue that followed was ridiculous. - First, they said it's normal. Nope. It's definitely not. After using, fixing, and servicing trolling motors for 20 years, I can say it's definitely not normal. - Then they said I shouldn't hear it when in water. Well, I'm not interested in hiding a problem, I'm more interested of not getting stranded 5 miles from the ramp. Not to mention the stealth part being gone for fishing. - Than he said he conferred with a colleague and the colleague said I shouldn't worry about it. Wow. That's definitely another level. What was offensive was how dismissive they were with this response. - Finally, they said they can't do anything unless I test it in water. My next fishing vacation is in about a month. And that's out of Amazon return window. - Anyway, I decided to open the motor and check. Indeed, one of the brushes was chewed unevenly. And that's on a motor that ran a total of 4 minutes in it's life. See pic. The problem is the manufacturing quality of the armature and lack of Quality Control. The posts of the armature are not sloped as they should and are unequal in height, and they hit the top of the brushes. - Definitely Minn Kota from now on. I never learn that saving $50 may result in a lot more trouble.

I was looking at your boat during the Intro. It looks like a Key West. I had one that was a 155 model. Loved it until Hurricane Katrina hit, and I had to trade it for trees to be cut and cleared on my property.

Love your channel. I've been making lures for close to 20 years now. I make them out of cedar and really want to make a mold and switch to resin. My question is, how would I go about figuring out the amount of micro beads to add to the resin mix to get a buoyancy like cedar. Any tips would be awesome. Thanks

I finally finished mine. I didn't do the extended part because I won't be doing lures that big. I have lures backed up ready for the final coat of finish.

Have you tried spraying it with an airless sprayer? You wouldn’t need to thin it with an airless. I will be trying it out of a Graco quick shot as soon as my cleaner arives

I've got a new boat, a pair of LiTime bluetooth batteries and a LiTime two bank 10 amp charger, all professionally installed. The charger lights flashed red when I plugged it in today. The manual doesn't tell me what that means. Also, I can't get the LiTime app to open so I can pair my iPhone to the batteries. I keep getting the following message "The network has timed out. Please try again later: I have tried many times, to no avail. There is no USA based tech support for LiTime that I can find. You have to send and e-mail or call Hong Kong China. I sent an e-mail and got a message saying they would get back to me within 24 hours. They have not. I finally called the phone number today and it just rang. Probably because it's 2PM here in NY and 2AM in Hong Kong. Very frustrating. Can anyone on this site help me fix these issues?

Thanks for the help, my lures have looked like shit when I clear coated them. But now I used a middle coat of boat clear then uv resin. First layer with uv clear still looked bad, but with the second coat it got so nice. Best so far. Thanks once again for the help! Have a nice day!

Most of my lures are around 2" in length. Your bows will not support anything that size, so I will have to modify it to fit my small lures. The top part of the bow is measured at 4.5". If I reduce it down to 2.5 inches, would that suffice for 2" lures?

When you made the insert tube and filled it with resin. You drilled a hole that is parallel. Please explain to the others how you did it, as not to make it a wobble thingamajig. I used to turn pens. So, I used my tube centering drilling jig and drill press to make that perfect in line hole.

About epoxy coat , how do you get to the quantity of epoxy resin A and resin B, depends the cm of the lure and the wood to floating or sinking. Cause every resin would need like some grams more than other brand names i guess. Please, thank you Franko.

Nice design, I would have used a through wire and added a nice shiny silver Propellor on the back with a little red bead before and behind it to give it a little more flash in the water- sea trout seem to really like that.

Nice work Franko! To get the UV clear coat to lay flat on larger baits, you have to allow the bait to turn on your dryer for 20 minutes or so. Ensure that the coat is indeed flat before turning on the UV light. I love the engineering aspect of your build tutorials.

Im sorry franco, this question may little bit off topic from lure build. But maybe you can give some enginering and physic side and explanation of about it. Im gonna ask you how you rig your lure with snap or splitring to connecting it with leader? Im ask topic this because im sometimes overpowering that hardware too much and get some effect into my lure action. I hope you can explain the design on snap and splitring how it works with your knowlegde😊. I never found explanation about it in internet, all just is about promotion and said this good and strong. But sometimes i ask my self do i need that super super strong hardware ? but the shape is wierd, and are this strong enough?. I can't answer for this thing for myself.
